Keeping household appliances clean is essential not only for hygiene but also for prolonging their lifespan and maintaining efficiency. For more complex tasks like oven deep cleaning, professional services are highly recommended.

1. Oven Cleaning Checklist

  • Turn off and unplug the oven before starting.
  • Remove oven racks, trays, and all removable components.
  • Apply oven cleaner to interior surfaces and door glass.
  • Soak racks in a professional-grade cleaning solution.
  • Scrub interior to remove carbonised grease and burnt residues.
  • Wipe down, rinse, and reassemble once dry.

2. Fridge & Freezer

  • Unplug and empty all food contents (check expiry dates!).
  • Remove all shelves, vegetable drawers, and door racks.
  • Clean the interior with mild detergent and warm water.
  • Sanitise handles and exterior door seals where bacteria hide.
  • Reassemble and restart the appliance.

3. Dishwasher

  • Remove the bottom filter and rinse away food debris.
  • Wipe interior edges and rubber door seals.
  • Run a maintenance cycle on high heat with a descaler or vinegar.
  • Ensure spray arms are clear of blockages.

4. Washing Machine

  • Clean the detergent drawer to remove mould and soap scum.
  • Wipe the rubber door seal (common spot for odours).
  • Run a 60Β°C or 90Β°C service wash with a drum cleaner.
  • Wipe down the exterior and buttons.

5. Microwave

  • Remove the turntable and support ring for separate washing.
  • Wipe the interior ceiling and walls with a detergent solution.
  • Steam-clean by heating a bowl of water and lemon for 3 minutes.
  • Clean the exterior control panel and vents.

6. Cooktop (Gas or Electric)

  • Remove grates and burners for intensive degreasing.
  • Apply cooktop cleaner to the main surface.
  • Scrub thoroughly to remove stubborn spills and grease.
  • Polish control knobs for a streak-free shine.
